Looking For the Following
Desired Locations
Plan
My initial goal is strictly broilers and vegetables. I want to use salatin-style or suscovich-style chicken tractors, along with a small field of vegetables, and grow from there into meat and dairy over time, as we learn and build.
I learned a lot from my grandparents, and have dedicated a lot of time and research in farmers and their different methods, but reading and watching only goes so far. We want to get our hands dirty, and build a business and a home from this.
Desired Transitional Agreement
Description of Desired Transitional Agreement
Looking for a place my wife and I can spend time getting back to where we came from, farming and building up things for ourselves. Somewhere safe for our kids. We like the freedom of camper living, so we don't take up much space. We want to raise chickens, sheep, goat, smaller animals for now, and maybe expand later on, as well as grow a mix of crops. Currently I'm a contractor, but we want to break away from the day to day, and focus on our own business, and build a good and simple life for our little family.
Type of Current Production on Farm
Produce / Land Cover
Livestock
Additional Information on Produce or Livestock Needs
Broilers, Egg Layers, Sheep, Goats, possibly pigs/hogs
Equipment and Infrastructure Details
We aren't really looking for anything to be provided to us, other than land to farm and possibly live/homestead on. Anything extra is a plus, but we plan on using our own, non-permanent enclosures and equipment.
We both love fishing though, so a stocked lake is always a plus. We all need to take a break and enjoy life once in a while.
Qualifications and Goals
Farming Experience
1 to 5 years
Farm Education/Training
Additional Info on Experience/Education
I was raised by my grandparents, who had a farm of some shape their entire lives until they couldn't anymore. My wife has a similar background. We both learned to grow crops and take care of animals as children, and since then we have both worked at stables caring for horses. We want to get back to that, and learn as much as we can.
