Plan

We currently have a small flock of around 75 ewes but we are looking to expand and grow our operation. We are selling lambs at local markets now but are looking explore other avenues to sell our lambs. We are looking for a place of our own with plenty of pasture land for us to grow.

Desired Transitional Agreement

  • Sale
  • Lease

Description of Desired Transitional Agreement

A lease to own situation would be ideal but we are willing to go through traditional bank loans if needed.

Type of Current Production on Farm

Livestock

  • Sheep / Goat

Additional Information on Produce or Livestock Needs

My goal is to have enough space to operate as a high intensity rotational grazing farm. We want our flock and farm to be as natural as possible and to work with the land instead of agains it.  Eventually we would like to sell our own lamb directly to the public. And also expand into the registered market and sell breeding stock.

Preferred Equipment and Infrastructure

  • Farmer Housing
  • Fencing
  • Well / Pond / Other Water Source
  • Barn - Livestock
  • Access to Electricity

Equipment and Infrastructure Details

Good fencing would be a major plus but we are willing to put up our own fence too. A well and electricity is a must. A place that has access to a natural water source would be great. Some form of a barn would also be ideal but isn't a necessity.

Additional Info on Experience/Education

My wife and I both come from farming families going back multiple generations. My family, on both sides, were in the cattle busines. Her family were row crop farmers. We are the black sheep and are currently raising comercial meat sheep. We currently are leasing pasture land and are running a flock of about 75 breeding ewes. We have learned a lot in the past few years but are always trying to better ourselves and our flock.
