Plan
I’m a beginning grower in the Atlanta area looking for an opportunity to get some hands-on farming experience before taking the leap and purchasing land of my own. Long term, my goal is to create a small, regenerative farm where I can grow cut flowers, vegetables, herbs, and fruit using organic and sustainable growing practices. I’ve started looking at land to purchase, but I’ve realized that I’d really like to spend a growing season or two learning, experimenting, and better understanding what I actually need in a property before making such a big investment.
For now, I’m hoping to find somewhere around ¼ to 1 acre within a reasonable drive of Atlanta where I can start small and learn as I go, with the opportunity to expand over time if it’s a good fit for everyone. Ideally, I’m looking for a sunny, relatively level growing area with reliable access to water and vehicle access. Electricity nearby would be a plus, but isn’t necessarily a requirement. I’m very open to a lease, land-share, cooperative arrangement, or working with an existing farm or landowner who has some unused space and is open to having a new grower on the property. I don’t need housing, and I’d love to eventually have the flexibility to add a removable high tunnel or other small-scale farm infrastructure as I gain experience.
My plan is to start intentionally small and focus on growing flowers, seasonal vegetables, herbs, berries, and other fruit while learning as much as I can along the way. Ultimately, I’d love to purchase a few acres near Atlanta and build a permanent small farm of my own, but right now I’m much more interested in finding the right place to learn, get my hands dirty, and make sure I’m building toward that goal thoughtfully.
Desired Transitional Agreement
Description of Desired Transitional Agreement
I’m very open to different arrangements and would love to find something that allows me to start small, gain hands-on experience, and grow over time. Initially, I’m interested in a lease or land-share arrangement where I can establish and manage my own growing area while learning as much as possible along the way. I would also be very open to working alongside an experienced farmer who may be looking to gradually step back from their operation, with the possibility of taking on more responsibility over time and potentially purchasing or taking over the farm in the future. Ultimately, I’m looking for an arrangement that is mutually beneficial and gives me the opportunity to learn, grow, and work toward eventually operating a farm of my own.

Preferred Equipment and Infrastructure
Equipment and Infrastructure Details
My primary infrastructure need is reliable access to water for irrigation, along with vehicle access to the growing area. Electricity nearby would be strongly preferred but is not necessarily a requirement. I would also appreciate access to existing storage, fencing, or a wash/pack area if available, but I’m very open to starting with a fairly simple setup and adding small-scale infrastructure as I grow. Ideally, I’d like the flexibility to install removable infrastructure such as drip irrigation, deer fencing, a small storage shed, and eventually a high tunnel or hoop house. Existing greenhouse space, cold storage, equipment, or other farm infrastructure would certainly be a plus, but is not required.
