Plan

My deep dive into the Natural Foods movement, which began during the peak of the Covid-19 Pandemic, evolved from theoretical interest into pragmatic, hands-on agricultural experimentation. This initial endeavor involved the diligent raising of a small flock of heirloom egg-laying hens—specifically three Rhode Island Reds and three White Plymouth Rocks—alongside foundational experiments with both hydroponic systems and traditional backyard raised-bed gardening. This direct, tangible experience has not only proven deeply rewarding but has also crystallized a strong, unwavering interest in pursuing a meaningful, long-term career in sustainable Agriculture. My professional focus is now singularly centered on the design and implementation of a genuinely sustainable, closed-loop farming system that fundamentally emphasizes regenerative, restorative, and ethical agricultural practices.

This commitment is currently being formalized through the development of a comprehensive business plan and all requisite supporting documentation for a unique private, for-profit social enterprise. This enterprise is deliberately structured around a robust Triple Mission framework, ensuring that its operations are guided equally by the principles of People, Planet, and Profit.

The Triple Mission Framework

1. People: Social Impact and Workforce Development

The primary social mission is the establishment of a self-sustaining, ethical employment and vocational training pipeline. This program is specifically designed to provide meaningful, skill-building opportunities for individuals often marginalized in the traditional workforce, including:

  • Wards of State and Troubled Youth seeking a structured environment.
  • Adopted Individuals requiring transitional support.
  • "Aged Outs" from the foster care system needing independent life and career skills.
  • Formerly Incarcerated Individuals looking for vocational rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

This approach will not simply offer jobs but will deliver comprehensive training in all aspects of regenerative agriculture, farm management, business operations, and supply chain logistics, fostering long-term stability and economic independence for participants.

2. Planet: Ecological Responsibility and Closed-Loop Systems

The environmental mission is centered on the commitment to cultivate and supply certified organic goods of the highest quality. This commitment will be executed by utilizing advanced sustainable, closed-loop farming practices. The regenerative model will prioritize:

  • Soil Health: Implementing cover cropping, no-till methods, and bio-intensive practices to dramatically enhance soil fertility, water retention, and carbon sequestration.
  • Water Conservation: Utilizing highly efficient hydroponic and aquaponic systems alongside rainwater harvesting to minimize water usage.
  • Waste Management: Integrating all outputs, such as animal manure and crop residue, back into the system through composting and vermiculture to achieve near-zero waste and maximize resource efficiency.
  • Biodiversity: Creating a diverse polyculture environment that supports local wildlife and beneficial insects, reducing the need for external inputs.

3. Profit: Financial Sustainability and Diversification

The financial mission is to secure long-term stability and operational resilience through diversified revenue streams. This will ensure that the social and environmental missions can be pursued without dependence on continuous external funding. The core profit strategy involves:

  • Commercial Sales: Establishing robust relationships with high-end restaurants, local food co-ops, specialty grocers, and a direct-to-consumer Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program to maximize profit margins on certified organic produce and poultry products.

Stable Government Service Contracts: Actively pursuing reliable, long-term contracts to supply fresh, organic goods to local school districts, military bases, hospitals, and correctional facilities, providing a stable, foundational revenue stream that anchors the business model.

Desired Transitional Agreement

  • Lease
  • Cooperative Model
  • Business Partnership
  • Farm Management

Description of Desired Transitional Agreement

At the moment I want to lease/rent my first land to establish my own practices and structure.  If there is possibility of rental property on land or ability for me to place housing near the land, that would be the best outcome.

Would like to use the first three years to establish, learn and fail.

Additional Information on Produce or Livestock Needs

To address rising global population and environmental strain from conventional farming, a shift to sustainable, circular food systems is necessary. This initiative advocates for integrating highly efficient alternative protein and nutrient sources via four resource-recovering biological platforms:

  1. Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) (Hermetia illucens): BSFL rapidly bioconvert diverse organic waste (food waste, manure) into high-protein (40-50%) and lipid-rich biomass for animal and aquaculture feed, replacing soy and fishmeal. The residual frass is a valuable organic fertilizer, closing the nutrient loop.
  2. Earthworms (Vermiculture): Cultivating earthworms (Eisenia fetida) converts organic waste into vermicompost (castings), a premium soil amendment that boosts fertility and water retention. Processed earthworm meal also offers a high-protein feed supplement, enhancing system circularity.
  3. Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus): Rabbits efficiently convert fibrous, low-value vegetation and agricultural residues into high-quality, lean meat. Their rapid reproduction and small footprint are ideal for small-scale systems. Their manure is a rich, immediate fertilizer, directly closing local nutrient cycles.
  4. Fungi (Mycoculture): Cultivating edible fungi (Pleurotus spp., Lentinula edodes) valorizes lignocellulosic waste (straw, wood) into food rich in fiber, vitamins, and protein for human consumption. Spent Mushroom Substrate (SMS) can then be used as a soil amendment or animal feed ingredient, increasing systemic viability.

Additional Info on Experience/Education

I have been an award-winning Independent Filmmaker, serving as a Producer and Production Manager with versatile expertise across all departments, coordinating creative projects and managing crews of 10-100. This is supported by a diverse background in facility management, warehouse operations, logistics, inventory control, and customer service/sales. Most recently, I gained practical logistical and customer service expertise as an independent contractor for companies like Jitsu Logistics and BevMo/GoPuff, and as a freelance driver for Lyft, DoorDash, and Instacart.

I am now focused on applying my proven history in business, project coordination, and leadership, leveraging self-education in Off-Grid, Homesteading, and Regenerative Farming, to address affordability and distribution challenges in the Natural Foods space for economically marginalized communities.
