Plan

Looking to lease/partner with a current operation. I want to implement rotational interspecies grazing to produce high quality beef, pork, and rabbit.

I have attached a brief summary of my work history. I will now go into a little of my personal history. My wife and I moved in with my father in 2013, a little over a year after my mother's passing. I immediately saw the 3/4 acre lot as an opportunity to raise some chickens and grow some vegetables. My "farming" was simply a part-time hobby, at this point. I started studying sustainable practices and applying them in the raised bed gardens and using Hugulkultur mounds in other areas. In December of 2019, my father was hospitalized. When he came home, the level of care he needed intensified. I curtailed much of my IC work in order to cut down on the amount of time I was away from home. My wife, who was also doing IC work, did the same.

When COVID hit, the remainder of our work dwindled. It was also at this time that we decided to change our household nutrition. In the next two years, my father was able  to stop all blood pressure and diabetes medication. He continues to thrive, physically, but has issues with dementia.

This was in February 2020. Being off the road gave me plenty of time to implement a plan to turn our 3/4 acres into a self-sustaining small farm. I planted apple trees and hazelnut trees. Olive seedlings, and strawberries and blueberries each had their own "guild". I acquired 2 boars and 1 sow American Guinea Hog, and grew them out to breed. I set up a mini CSA selling hog shares. I built a greenhouse from repurposed items and established an aquaponics system. I used one bed of the system specifically for propagating cuttings. I later added a breeding pair of rabbits. I also studied during this time. Sustainable permaculture, rotational grazing, herbal medicine, companion planting...I devoured information and sought to apply what seemed appropriate for my farm. I grew and sold microgreens at local markets.

Along with putting my hands in the dirt, I formulated plans for a small "agritourism" stop. Google still lists my address as a CSA, with pictures of my first litter of pigs. The main  focus of this plan was on developing a social media presence. The farm's YouTube channel, Buckwheat Farms Magick Emporium and Ballroom,  garnered 238 subscribers with over 9400 views. I have 314 videos in my catalogue, with over 200 featuring

sustainable practices or agorism/voluntary living. I promoted the farm, markets I was involved with, and agorist principles on Instagram and Facebook.  @Buckwheat.farms

on Instagram and Buckwheat Farms on Facebook. The farm's name even derives from sustainable practices, as Buckwheat is a super beneficial cover crop.

Unfortunately, the local P&Z didn't approve of my rotational grazing hogs in the front yard. They were trained to electric netting and were happy turning my centipede lawn into viable garden beds. I eventually moved the pigs to a friend's farm. I continued to tend the herd, harvesting several of my animals during this time. I expanded my microgreens operation to the friend's farm, converting a large walk-in cooler into a grow room.

We are in February 2022, at this point. My father's deteriorating mental state required that I relinquish the remainder of my IC contracts. I sought out employment at Texas Border Grille. I knew from past experience that I could work flexible hours and make good money in food service. I started out doing kitchen prep, and service. I was made a key-holder/assistant manager within 6 months.

It was at this point that my friend was forced to sell his farm. I harvested several pigs for friends and family, and donated the remainder to a fellow homesteader. This effectively shut down the microgreen production as well.

I believe my knowledge, experience, and skills check all the boxes. I look forward to a face to face meeting, where you will find my temperament and attitude to be a great fit as well.

Personal information - 63 years experience, married, 5 grandchildren.
