Additional aspects

Farm is 4.5 miles from downtown Athens and the University of Georgia campus, yet has a very isolated feel. The proposed rails to trails Firefly trail runs right across the street from the farmhouse. Prior to the Civil War, the present farm was part of a 3000 acre cotton plantation. The old terraces still exist. After the war, a Confederate soldier bought the present 100 acres and his descendants used it for cotton till about 1940. Following that it was in other row crops till I bought the farm in 1993.
